Grand Canyon South Rim Services Expand as Water Measures Continue
Grand Canyon National Park is restoring several visitor services as water supply levels improve, while continuing to ask visitors and residents to conserve water. Water spigots are now operating at Mather and Desert View Campgrounds, and Camper Services will reopen to the public on Friday, August 21.
The park also lifted fire restrictions at both campgrounds. Campfires remain limited to established campfire rings, and the National Park Service is reminding everyone to use caution and practice responsible fire use.
Water spigots return at two campgrounds
Water spigots at Mather Campground and Desert View Campground have been turned on as part of the park’s ongoing recovery of visitor services. The National Park Service said the change reflects improvement in water supply levels, but water conservation measures are still in place across the area.
Visitors staying at or using the campgrounds should continue to limit their water use. The park is encouraging people to take shorter showers, run full loads of laundry and dishes, and turn off water whenever it is not being used.
Camper Services reopening August 21
Camper Services, operated by Delaware North, is scheduled to reopen to the public on Friday, August 21. The National Park Service included the reopening among the latest steps to restore services at Grand Canyon National Park.
Because conservation measures continue, visitors should plan to use water thoughtfully even as more services become available. The park has asked both visitors and local residents to continue helping reduce demand while recovery efforts proceed.
